The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has updated the pre-visa exemption schedules for entering the United Arab Emirates. This is because citizens of 87 countries around the world are able to enter the UAE without the need for a pre-visa.

In accordance with the schedule of advance visa exemptions for travelers having ordinary passports, which can be found on the information page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official website, nationals of 110 countries across the world are required to have a prior visa in order to enter the United Arab Emirates.

Regarding the nationalities that are required to have a prior entry permit, the "digital government" explained that if an individual does not belong to one of the categories that are eligible for visa-free entry or obtaining a visa upon arrival, then he will be required to have an entry permit issued by his sponsor prior to arriving in the United Arab Emirates. This is because the entry permit that needs to be issued by the General Directorate of residency and Foreigners Affairs is contingent upon the reason for visiting the United Arab Emirates.
