Summer in the UAE: When will it rain again? Everything you should know.

Because of the development of thermal lows, especially from the India monsoon low pressure system, July is a warm month with rising temperatures.

Summertime rainfall in the Emirates.

With no rain predicted until this weekend, the UAE is expected to see intermittent summer showers in the next few weeks that will continue until the end of summer in September.

Rainfall in the Emirates during the summer.

The official weather forecaster stated that although the UAE is now experiencing a slow period, summer rains are typical due to monsoon low pressure from India.

Over a million people were affected by the recent severe flooding in northeast India caused by heavy rainfall in the south Asian nation.

Nearer to home, homes in Yemen's Sanaa are crumbling due to intense rains, following months of flooding and storms that have devastated the nation.

Here's everything you need to know about summer rains in the UAE to determine when and how they will affect the country.

When will there be another round of rain this summer in the UAE?

In a recent interview with Khaleej Times, Dr. Ahmed Habib of the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) stated, "The UAE is expecting rainfall in the next few weeks, as rain is standard during the summer months and typically lasts until September 23." Convective clouds are expected to build in the country's eastern region. But for the next two days, there isn't a clear rain forecast.

What variables affect the nation's precipitation patterns and weather patterns, particularly in July?

July is a summer month, Habib noted, with temperatures rising as a result of thermal lows spreading, especially from the low-pressure system originating in India during the monsoon.

High temperatures cause clouds to gather over the eastern and southern mountains, which frequently results in afternoon rain in certain interior areas.

The current weather pattern explains it; easterly winds are brought to our area by the Indian monsoon's extension. Water vapor condenses and becomes liquid as a result of these winds carrying moisture from the eastern portion of the UAE's sea. Higher altitudes are reached by this humid air, especially in the afternoons.

"The effect of the Indian monsoon over our area is likely in the summer." The monsoon season is currently in effect in Yemen and India, Habib continued.

When did this summer's last rainfall occur?

During the official start of summer, the third week of June brought mild to heavy rains and intermittent rainfall over the nation.

On June 29, there was rain and hail in Filli, Sharjah, as well as in Ras Al Khaimah's Al Musseili and Shauka. The weather has stayed comparatively dry ever since.

On June 24, however, Al Ain's Malaqit and Khatm Al Shiklah districts had light to moderate rainfall.

The previous day, June 23, Maleha in Sharjah received light to moderate rainfall, while Khatm Al Shiklah saw intense rain and hail.

Rainfall varied from mild to heavy along the new Khor Fakkan Road towards Al Dhaid.

Light rain also fell on June 22 in Sharjah's Al Bahaes neighborhood.

When did July's highest rainfall total in the United Arab Emirates occur?

At the port of Fujairah in 2022, the most rain ever recorded during this month was 234.9 mm. The month of July 2023 had the highest frequency of fog, with 11 occurrences and 5 days with mist.

Especially in the summer, the nation continues to try to increase precipitation. According to earlier estimates, if cloud seeding efforts successfully target appropriate clouds and cause precipitation, the UAE may enjoy sporadic rain throughout the year.

The possibility of rainfall in the nation has increased by 15–25 percent as a result of the use of salt flares to blast into the clouds.
