UAE: Are you looking for a job? Here's a CV writing guide to help you dazzle AI screening candidates

MoMansour - | UAE

Employees should consider both human and technological factors to improve their chances of finding employment and include relevant keywords while creating resumes.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more and more prevalent in practically every aspect of life, and the employment market is no exception.

To sort through the mountains of CVs that they receive each day from job searchers, the recruiters are using AI. Therefore, understanding how the AI-led selection process functions is even more crucial for prospective applicants to increase their chances of being chosen.

The use of keywords related to their disciplines that AI can recognise and is user-friendly enough to go through while creating a CV is advised by recruiters in order to boost a candidate's chances of winning the job.

Nashfi Qureshi, head of customer experience at Bayt.com, asserts that in the age of AI hiring, job hopefuls do need to modify their resumes.

"AI technologies are being utilised more and more to analyse resumes, narrow down candidates, and even perform preliminary interviews. Candidates must make their applications so that both humans and machines can understand them in order for their CVs to pass this AI screening. This entails emphasising their essential competencies, utilising the appropriate keywords pertinent to the job description, and providing material in a style that an AI can easily understand, according to Qureshi.

The employment website also just introduced Bayt AI+, which uses machine learning algorithms to enhance predictions about candidate behaviour, suggests more pertinent CVs, automates manual tasks like writing job descriptions, and gives employers a hand-curated list of the best candidates for their openings.

In this region, there has always been a large number of applications for job openings, with a notably high proportion of applicants possessing the bare minimum necessary skills and experience required for the advertised employment, according to Ian Pollington, Associate Director, Michael Page Middle East.

As recruiters and HR professionals increasingly use AI-powered tools to automate CV screening, he said, "it has always been crucial for candidates applying for roles in this region to make sure that their CV reflects the appropriate qualities for a role they are applying for.

What should a CV say?

Pollington encouraged job searchers to customise their CVs to contain pertinent keywords and phrases that match the job description in order to maximise their prospects.

"They should concentrate on clearly and succinctly articulating their qualifications and experiences. They can improve their chances of having their CVs discovered and chosen during the initial screening phase by doing this, he stated.

Nashfi Qureshi stated that AI is taught to look for quantitative accomplishments wherever possible, as well as a variety of job-related phrases in both number and variety. "AI can filter these as well to understand a candidate's success level."

He gave an example, saying that terms like "SEO," "content creation," "Google Analytics," and "social media management" may be pertinent for applicants for the position of in digital marketing. Additionally, terms that show adaptability, like "leadership," "project management," or "problem-solving," might be helpful in a variety of professions.

He advised candidates to delete sophisticated formatting and pictures because AI algorithms might find it difficult to decipher complex designs and might overlook crucial information. "Keep things clear and uncomplicated. Additionally, stay away from any jargon or acronyms that the AI could not understand.

How AI examines resumes

Nashfi Qureshi stated that Bayt.com employs AI to first extract information on work experience, education, and skill sets from various formats of resumes submitted by job seekers. AI searches the CVs for keywords, phrases, and certain portions in the second stage.

It can identify whether a candidate's skills, credentials, and experience meet the job criteria based on this information and can extract crucial details from it. Additionally, we make use of our unique AI to make sure that all job role variations appear in the search results. Additionally, Bayt.com offers AI solutions like Evalufy, a candidate evaluation form, which can analyse a candidate's language and tone to determine whether they would fit in with the company culture. It's crucial to remember that, even if AI might speed up the hiring process, human judgement is still required to analyse the data and reach judgements.

According to Ian Pollington, when choosing a candidate, AI examines the application, collects pertinent data like abilities, education, and experience, and then compares it to predetermined criteria. "This enables automated screening, filtering, and ranking of candidates, saving time and effort in the initial screening process," the author continued.
