The weather today caused the cancellation of several flights from the United Arab Emirates to overseas destinations.

The Kolkata Airport Authority of India decided to halt all flight operations for twenty-one hours, starting at twelve in the morning on May 26 and ending at nine in the morning on May 27, due to the arrival of Cyclone Remal.

It is anticipated that the storm will have an effect on the coastal region of West Bengal, which does include Kolkata. The Kolkata Airport Authority of India released a statement announcing the suspension of flight operations for twenty-one hours due to the anticipated heavy winds and heavy to very heavy rainfall conditions in Kolkata.

Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport (AUH) was the scheduled departure point for both flights.

Etihad expressed its regret for any inconvenience this disruption may have caused. Our number one priority is to ensure the safety and comfort of our crew and guests."

The disruption has also affected flights between Dubai and Kolkata.

A representative for Emirates has confirmed the cancellation of flights EK 572/573 scheduled for May 26 and EK570/571 scheduled for May 27.

In addition, a spokesman for flydubai stated that flights FZ 461/462 that were due to depart from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Capital City (CCU) on Sunday have been postponed and are now scheduled to depart on Monday, May 27.

FlyDubai continued by saying, "We will continue to monitor the weather conditions, and we will update our flight schedule accordingly."
