The UAE issues new procedures regarding residence visas

ahmed atef - | UAE

The Digital Government of the United Arab Emirates has released a statement stating that foreign nationals who are currently working or living in the UAE and who have made the decision to leave the country permanently are required to ensure that the procedures for canceling their residence visa and their sponsors are carried out in accordance with the procedures that have been established.

it explained that in most cases, the guarantor or his authorized representative (for instance, a representative in the case of companies) is the only person who is authorized to proceed with the cancellation of residence visas that he has guaranteed. Furthermore, the guarantor himself is not permitted to execute the application without the permission and signature of the guarantor.

Terminating the employee’s work residency visa

it went on to say that in the event that the company makes the decision to terminate the work residence visa of an employee, it is required to first submit a request to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, requesting that the employment contract and the employee's work card be terminated. This request must be signed by both the employer and the employee. Subsequently, the employer is responsible for submitting the cancellation request to the federal authority that is responsible for identity, citizenship, Customs, and port security.

Residence visas for family members

The "Digital Government" emphasized that the employer is responsible for canceling the employee's work permit. As a result, the employer is required to submit to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization a letter that is signed by the employee confirming that he has received all of his salaries, dues, and end of service from the employer. Additionally, the letter notes that in order to cancel residence visas for family members such as the wife and children, the guarantor person must first cancel his sponsored visa before initiating the cancellation of his own residence visa.

How to apply for cancellation of residence visa

The official noted that there are two ways to apply to have a residence visa revoked: either in person at an accredited printing office or online through the platforms provided by the relevant authorities. In the former case, the guarantor or host can visit a printing office that is registered and approved by the federal authority for identity, citizenship, customs, and port security. At this location, a representative will fill out the cancellation form and send it to the relevant authorities. In the latter case, the guarantor or host can submit the cancellation request electronically through the official website or the smart application available on Google Play and App Store platforms.

it requested that all information pertaining to the service (cancellation of residence permits) be made available to the public by visiting the website of the federal authority for identity, citizenship, Customs and port security, as well as the website of the General Directorate of residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, which is responsible for the cancellation of residence permits of all types.
