A long holiday for Eid al-Fitr in the UAE for 10 days for these employees

A number of employees receive a long vacation of up to 10 days on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr in the Emirates. Government employees who have a work week of only four days benefit from this long vacation, which lasts up to 10 days. On normal days, they receive vacation on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The Eid Al Fitr holiday in the UAE is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 8 of the current year 2024, with the government granting federal government employees leave until Sunday, April 14, as the Sharjah government announced today, as the Sharjah government announced a week of leave for public sector employees. Starting Monday.

Regular working hours are scheduled to resume in Al Sharfa starting Monday, April 15. It is worth noting that the UAE government had previously announced a week-long holiday for public sector employees on Sunday.

Thus, federal government employees in Sharjah get 10 days off to celebrate Eid Al Fitr, since Friday, Saturday and Sunday are official weekend days in Sharjah.

According to the Islamic calendar, the Eid al-Fitr holiday in the UAE will officially begin on April 8, regardless of the sighting of the crescent, depending on the time of sighting of the moon. Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on the first of Shawwal, that is, the month following the month of Ramadan.

The UAE population, both citizens and residents, is expected to prepare for the longest official holiday of the year, as the end of the holy month of Ramadan approaches.

  • New Year's Day: January 1, 2024 (one day)
  • *Eid al-Fitr: from 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal 1445 AH (four days)
  • *The Pause of Arafah and Eid al-Adha: from 9-12 Dhu al-Hijjah 1445 AH (four days)
  • *Hijri New Year: 1 Muharram 1446 AH (one day)
  • *The Prophet’s Birthday: 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1446 AH (one day)
  • National Day: December 2-3, 2024 (two days).

It should be noted that the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the UAE has announced that next April 8 will be a paid holiday for all employees in the private sector around the world.
