Aiming to provide Emiratis with an education that is both of high quality and anchored in national values at a cost that is affordable, the Dubai Schools initiative is scheduled to begin operations in 2021.
The schools that are part of the program are managed by Taaleem, which is considered to be one of the most reputable education providers in the country. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which is Dubai's private education regulator, is in charge of its oversight.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, made the announcement on Tuesday that the Dubai Schools project would be expanded by 530 million dirhams from its current expenditure.
As part of the expansion, schools all around the emirates will receive an increase of more than 6,400 seats, 295 classrooms, and 123 laboratories and specialized classrooms compared to their current capacities.
Through the implementation of this project, Dubai Schools intend to increase the total number of classroom seats they offer to 15,000 by the year 2033.
The expansion is a component of Dubai Social Agenda 33, which was initiated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. This agenda includes a strategy that involves a budget of 208 billion dirhams to increase the number of Emirati families living in the emirate by 50 percent within a decade.
"By fostering a culture of educational excellence, we aim to equip our youth with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing environment," according to Sheikh Hamdan.
"The new initiative to expand the 'Dubai Schools' project will contribute to ensuring that the emirate's school offerings meet and even exceed global benchmarks of educational excellence."
The new school in Al Khawaneej will have a total area of 446,720 square feet and will have the capacity to house 4,028 students, ranging from kindergarten to the twelfth grade.
In addition to that, it will contain 149 classrooms, 71 laboratories equipped with cutting-edge technology, three indoor pools, one of which will be a semi-Olympic pool, indoor sports halls, a football pitch, and five outdoor courts.
In addition, the school will have a library that is 11,800 square feet in size.
The development that is now taking place at the Al Barsha branch school will result in the addition of 98 additional classrooms, two indoor pools, a football pitch, two sports halls, seven outdoor courts, 52 laboratories, and a library that is 6,800 square feet in size.
At the time of completion, the school will be able to accommodate an additional 3,520 students.
According to Dubai Municipality and The Knowledge Fund Establishment, both schools are fifty percent finished, and it is anticipated that both will be ready to accept students for the 2024/2025 school year.
The Dubai Schools project launched two new schools in the year 2021, one in Mirdif and the other in Al Barsha City.
Both of these schools adhere to the American curriculum, although they place a greater emphasis on Arabic literacy, science and technology, as well as Islamic studies and the culture of the United Arab Emirates.
The number of students registered in Dubai Schools reached 2,580 by the time the 2023-2024 school year began, with students from 38 different nationalities.
