Starting July 1, significant changes are set to take effect in the parking arrangements at Dubai Mall, impacting both the cost and convenience for visitors.
Dubai Mall Paid Parking System
Managed by Salik Company PJSC, Dubai’s exclusive toll gate operator, the new parking system aims to streamline access and improve management amidst escalating demand.
Effective July 1, several sections of Dubai Mall will transition from free to paid parking zones. This shift introduces a tiered tariff structure, with potential charges escalating up to Dh1,000 for a 24-hour period. Notably, areas such as Zabeel and Fountain View will remain exempt from fees, offering continued free parking options. Furthermore, specific groups, including people of determination, qualify for exemption upon application through Salik’s designated channels.
Salik Company PJSC has outlined operational specifics and addressed frequently asked questions to clarify the transition:
Fashion, Grand, and Cinema parking zones will commence fee implementation starting July 1, 2024. Individuals categorized as People of Determination, as well as vehicles exempt from Salik toll fees (such as police and ambulances), will not be subject to Dubai Mall parking charges.
An efficient barrier-free system will facilitate seamless access and departure using Salik-tagged vehicles. Upon entry, a vehicle’s plate number is automatically scanned, triggering a fee calculation based on the duration of the stay. Charges are then deducted from the associated Salik account upon exit.
Parking Rates:
Rates vary according to the day and duration of the stay.
- Weekdays (Monday to Thursday): The initial 4 hours are free, with subsequent rates increasing incrementally.
- Weekends (Friday to Sunday): Free parking is extended to 6 hours initially, with fees applying beyond this period.
Payment and Account Requirements:
In order to use the parking facilities at Dubai Mall, customers need to have a valid Salik tag and make sure their Salik account is fully funded. For your convenience, any fees will be automatically taken from the associated account.
The highest charge for continuous 24-hour parking is capped at Dh1,000. Vehicles exceeding this duration may face additional penalties, enforced by Dubai Police.
The implementation of paid parking at Dubai Mall signifies a strategic effort to manage congestion and optimize parking resources amidst rising visitor numbers. This shift reflects a proactive approach to enhancing the visitor experience by ensuring accessibility and availability of parking spaces for shoppers and guests alike.
Expert insights underscore the necessity of such measures in light of increasing urbanization and visitor influxes. The move not only aims to regulate traffic flow within the mall premises but also aligns with broader urban planning goals aimed at sustainable urban mobility and resource management.
