A pleasant surprise awaits UAE residents in January 2024: the first public holiday of the year, Monday, January 1, will kick off an extended weekend.

As This exclusive day off, designed to accommodate individuals who adhere to the standard Monday-to-Friday work schedule, extends the weekend period from Saturday, December 30, to Monday, January 1. Work as usual will be resumed on Tuesday, January 2.

National Day

This announcement follows closely after the recent National Day holiday, which gifted private sector workers a delightful three-day break from Saturday, December 2, to Monday, December 4. As the year draws to a close, excitement is building for this upcoming extended weekend, offering a rejuvenating start to the new year.

List of confirmed holidays for 2024

Looking forward, the UAE Cabinet has already unveiled a comprehensive list of confirmed public and private sector holidays for 2024. Residents can proactively plan their breaks for the year, with key dates to anticipate:

  • Monday, January 1: New Year’s Day
  • Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3: Eid al-Fitr
  • Dhu Al Hijjah 9: Arafat Day
  • Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to 12: Eid Al-Adha
  • Muharram 1: Islamic New Year
  • Rabi’ Al-Awwal 12: Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday
  • Monday, December 2: National Day
  • Tuesday, December 3: National Day holiday
