Beginning in January 2024, the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Human Resources will put into effect a new decision concerning those who are employed.
The purpose of the new approach is to reduce the amount of time and effort required by claimants to collect their legal claims, as well as streamline procedures and speed up the process.
Beginning on January 1, 2024, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation will make final executive decisions in order to resolve disputes that are brought to its attention and are related to companies and workers in the private sector, domestic workers, and domestic worker recruiting agencies.These disputes will be resolved with a minimum value of Dh50,000.

In the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Human Resources has recently adopted a new law that addresses the resolution of employee complaints.
The Ministry has already addressed disputes involving non-commitment to amicable settlement choices, and this decision applies to such conflicts as well, regardless of the sum that is being claimed.
By streamlining procedures and reducing the amount of time it takes for claimants to collect their legal claims, the new method intends to save consumers time and effort, streamline procedures, and speed up the process.
The new system is in line with Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2023, which changes some parts of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 about how to regulate employment relationships, and Federal Decree-Law No. 21 of 2023, which changes some parts of Federal Decree-Law No. 9 of 2022 about domestic workers. Both of these decrees were issued in 2023.
Following the notification of the Ministry's decision to resolve the disagreement, the new amendments make it possible for either party in a dispute to file a lawsuit before the Court of Appeals within fifteen working days of receiving notifications of the decision. After that, the court establishes a hearing date and time within three business days.

Within a maximum of fifteen working days from the date of referral, the Ministry will continue with its customary operations, which include seeking to find amicable settlements for disputes that exceed Dh50,000 and sending cases to the relevant court for resolution if an amicable settlement does not find a way to be achieved.
The revisions contribute to the acceleration of the resolution of labor complaints that have been referred to the judiciary, the improvement of compliance with legal requirements among workers, employers, and domestic worker recruiting agencies, and the reduction of the number of workers who are employed in an irregular capacity.
