Travelers are discovering less expensive alternatives to the Schengen visa

More and more tourists are finding less expensive options for the Schengen visa.

UAE Schengen visa delay: Locals look into more affordable, hipper options.

Due to a shortage of appointment spaces, locals are currently finding it very difficult to obtain Schengen visas as the summer vacation travel season approaches. Due to difficulties obtaining visas for Schengen countries, residents on a tight budget are choosing more affordable travel options in the region and Indian subcontinent during the summer travel seasons, while high-end travelers from the UAE are choosing popular and expensive destinations across Asia and other visa-friendly countries. Due to a shortage of appointment spaces, UAE citizens are currently finding it very difficult to obtain visas to Schengen nations as the summer vacation travel season approaches. During the summer break, people who registered for a European region visa months in advance will be eligible to travel. Others, however, are forced to explore alternatives.

Industry executives report that this summer's top travel destinations for locals who were denied Schengen visas include Vietnam, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Latvia, Slovania, and the Saudi city of Abha. Musafir.com's COO, Raheesh Babu, stated that travelers from the UAE are favoring locations that provide hassle-free visa processing.

Due to the ease of scheduling, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Turkey, and the CIS are experiencing an increase in interest. According to Babu, the majority of visitors choose stays of four days and five nights on average.

He continued by saying that many foreigners are choosing to travel to nearby locations like Salalah and Abu Dhabi instead of returning to their home countries due to the high cost of airfare. To encourage travel to European nations, Musafir has a specific agreement with Schengen nations to make it easier for local tourists to obtain visas.

Travel out of the area increases as more people take flights to colder destinations. Iata's most recent statistics, which were made public on Wednesday, show that demand for Middle Eastern airlines increased by 9.7% in May compared to the previous year, outpacing capacity expansion by 9%.

Asian travel routes to the Middle East are especially robust, with fares currently approximately 32% higher than in 2019. The Europe-Middle East route is another noteworthy development. For the past two years running, revenue passenger kilometers on this route have increased from April to May, reversing the historical pattern of declines during these months. According to Reena Philip, general manager of operations at AirTravel Enterprises, travelers are favoring nations like Vietnam, Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, where obtaining a visa is easy or even free.

Sri Lanka has likewise made excellent progress. Then there are the more conventional travel spots, like Bali and the Maldives. Although there are now some e-visa concerns, Japan was also well-liked, she noted. Unless someone cancels, Philip said, there won't be any appointments available for the Schengen region until September 2024.

Avinash Adnani, managing director of Neo Travels and Tourism, stated that customers are considering other options like Turkey, Bali, and Southeast Asian destinations because of the better weather there due to the difficulty in making appointments. Furthermore, there are no issues with halal food or visas in Bali, the Maldives, or Turkey.

High-end tourists from the UAE visit the majority of these locations, while tourists on a tight budget head to Malaysia and Sri Lanka, he continued.
