Abu Dhabi Police Warn Against Stopping on Roads
The police emphasize that this action is deemed an offense, carrying a penalty of a Dh1000 fine and six black points on the driver's record.
Road Safety
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate, underlining road safety as a strategic priority, provided guidance for drivers involved in minor traffic incidents, experiencing vehicle breakdowns, or dealing with tire blowouts. In such situations, the directive is clear: drivers should safely move their vehicles off the road to the nearest secure location.
Smooth traffic flow and assistance
In addition to avoiding legal consequences, moving vehicles off the road ensures smooth traffic flow and prevents unnecessary obstructions. Drivers facing difficulties on the road are encouraged to contact the Command and Control Center of Abu Dhabi Police for assistance. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of enhancing road safety.
Accident Assessment and Responsibility
Brigadier Saif Al Zaabi, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, highlighted that moving vehicles following minor accidents does not impact the process of determining responsibility. Abu Dhabi Police employ precise systems for accident assessment, ensuring an accurate determination of the party at fault.
Risks of Road Obstructions
Brigadier Al Zaabi also drew attention to the risks associated with leaving vehicles on road lanes after minor accidents or during tire changes. Such actions not only increase the likelihood of additional accidents but also pose significant traffic hazards, potentially leading to more severe consequences.
Traffic awareness campaigns
To further promote traffic awareness and safety culture, the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols has initiated campaigns. These campaigns encompass awareness bulletins, field workshops, and efforts led by the Security Media Department of Abu Dhabi Police, disseminated through various social media channels.
Strict Enforcement
Stressing the seriousness of the matter, Brigadier Al Zaabi reiterated that stopping a vehicle in the middle of the road without a valid reason is a punishable offense, attracting a Dh1000 fine and six black points. Abu Dhabi Police's commitment to enforcing these regulations underscores their dedication to ensuring a secure and efficient road environment.
