UAE: IIT Delhi to open its Abu Dhabi campus next January 2024

IIT-Delhi's International Campus in Abu Dhabi

Rangan Banerjee, Director of the Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi (IIT-Delhi), announced the forthcoming launch of the institution's inaugural international campus in Abu Dhabi, slated for 2024. This development is expected to further bolster the esteemed relations between the UAE and India and enhance collaborative efforts in higher education.

An important milestone was achieved during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UAE when IIT-Delhi formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and India's Ministry of Education in June.

As This strategic collaboration underscores the joint commitment to promoting educational excellence, innovation, knowledge exchange, and the development of human capital.

Academic Oversight and Infrastructure Planning

The Abu Dhabi branch of IIT-Delhi will assume responsibility for all academic aspects, encompassing curriculum development, laboratory facilities, and research initiatives. Additionally, it will play an integral role in planning infrastructure, with a particular focus on digital infrastructure, in partnership with ADEK and other relevant stakeholders.

Enriching Research and Innovation

The Director of IIT-Delhi emphasized that the Abu Dhabi branch will significantly contribute to the research and innovation landscape in the emirate. It is poised to benefit from collaborative opportunities with renowned institutions such as the Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII). This collaboration will facilitate the creation of integrated programs and advanced research endeavors.
