The new bus prices in Abu Dhabi for 2024.

Users can switch between bus services without incurring additional fees by paying the Standard Service fare, which is Dh2 boarding cost + 5 fils for each kilometer.

On February 28, Abu Dhabi will adopt a new public transportation fare system called the "Standard Service," which will include city and suburban transportation services.

According to the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), the "Standard Service" fare will cost Dh2 (boarding fee) plus an additional 5 fils for each kilometer traveled, with a cap of Dh5 per trip.

When traveling by bus, passengers can easily switch between services without having to pay an extra Dh2 boarding fee. The prerequisites are listed below:

Within sixty minutes of the last tap-out, tap into the other service.

not to change course and head in the other direction.

Two transfers at most, utilizing three buses.

There are transfer requirements between the Abu Dhabi Link service and the standard services of public transportation buses.

How much a single bus ride will cost when you switch:

The distance traveled from the point of boarding to the point of alighting is used to compute fares. Tapping the 'Hafilat' card on the reader is required each time you board and get off the bus in order for the trip to count as a single trip.

If the card is not tapped, there could be fines, and the whole cost of the bus route could be deducted the next time it is used. This is applicable if a passenger is believed to have continued riding the bus to the conclusion of the route and fails to tap out while switching between services or using the bus once more. When getting on and off each bus, passengers are reminded to tap their card on the reader.

With the exception of intercity services, the department has extended the geographic coverage of public transportation passes, bringing the city and suburb regions of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra within the Standard Service. As of the purchase date, public transportation passes are currently available for the following prices:

A seven-day pass costs Dh35.

A 30-day pass costs Dh95.

The updated version will go on sale on February 28, 2024.

As of February 27, passes issued under the prior system will no longer be available for purchase.

There have been no modifications made to the Dh500 annual passes for students, the free passes for the elderly, or people of determination with a partner.

With the exception of intercity services, these passes will continue to cover the Standard Service in all regions of the emirate.

Furthermore, there is still no charge for those who are 10 years of age or younger.

All passes purchased prior to February 28 will remain valid until they expire. Standard service does not apply to the suburbs of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, or Al Dhafra.

Subsidized public transport ticket prices for families in Abu Dhabi.

Family tickets on public transportation in Abu Dhabi are subsidized: Public transportation passes that are subsidized are available to low-income Emirati families who are engaged in social support programs.

For this reason, the 30-day pass costs Dh80, while the 7-day pass is available for Dh30.
