The General Directorate of Residency and Expatriate Affairs in the United Arab Emirates revealed the requirements and procedures for converting a tourist visa into a residency in the Emirates, which are 10 procedures that the traveler must adhere to.
In order to receive a residence visa to work in the UAE, the resident must undertake a medical examination as well as a security examination conducted by the authorised authorities.
Conditions for converting a tourist visa into a residency in the UAE
- The person must have a recent photo of himself, taking into account that the background of the photo is white.
- It is also required that the passport be valid for more than 6 months.
- He is also required to complete all these procedures before his tourist visa expires.
- It is also required that he have an employment contract in the United Arab Emirates.
- The age shall not be less than 18 years.
- Pay the UAE residence visa fee, which is about 3,600 AED.
- Pay the departure fee of approximately 600 AED.
- Transferring his sponsorship from the person to whom the tourist visa is related to the new employer or establishment.
- It is also required that he possess a valid license for the entity that sponsored him, and that no violations have been registered against him.
- Waiting for 5 days from the date of submitting the application to obtain a residence visa.

Types of visitor visas in the UAE
There are two types of residence visas in the United Arab Emirates, which are as follows:
- First: the short-term visit visa, and this visa extends for 30 days only, and the holder of this visa can enter the UAE for a period of one time or several times, with this matter being specified when submitting the visa application.
- Second: Long-term visit visa, and this visa lasts for 90 days. A tourist visa to the UAE can be obtained through the UAE embassy in your country, or through airlines, hotels, and travel agents.
