Statement by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation regarding regulating the working hours of domestic workers in the Emirates
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has released a statement about the issue of regulating the working hours of domestic employees in the Emirates, According to what is required by the nature of the work or the needs of the home, the employer has the inherent right to regulate the working hours of domestic workers and auxiliary workers, as well as the daily rest time, provided that the daily rest of the auxiliary worker is not less than 12 hours, provided that it is eight hours. This information was published on the Ministry's official website. At least "continuous" hours, with the exception of moments when the assistant worker is not working, sleeping, or eating, which are not included in the total number of working hours. According to the explanation provided by the Ministry, the assistant worker is eligible for a weekly rest day, the specifics of which are to be negotiated by him and the employer, and the company is permitted to hire additional assistant workers. A weekly rest day is afforded to the worker, with the proviso that he has the right to an alternative rest day for the day he was committed to working or to receive cash compensation equivalent to his wage for that day. Additionally, it is stipulated that the worker is not required to work more than two rest days in a row, unless otherwise stipulated by the parties involved in the agreement.
