A new visa campaign in the UAE to help residents of the country

A UAE-wide awareness campaign started on Tuesday will assist explain visa infractions involving tourists, workers, and job seekers, It will discuss the importance of expats and tourists updating their visa status once the one they used to enter the country expires, This entails applying for a new visa or leaving the country before their resident or tourist pass expires.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) launched the three-month campaign on October 10, In addition to free zones, several government entities will participate.

A film posted as part of the campaign depicted how the authorities assisted Irene, a domestic worker who fled her employer and became an unlawful resident.

"… It is essential to comply with labour and residency laws, and we are fully prepared to offer support to ensure your legal status and wellbeing," the Ministry of Housing and Renewable Energy (MoHRE) stated on

Penalties and violations

"The campaign aims to familiarise people with the key provisions of the entry and residency laws for foreign nationals in the UAE, as well as regulations for labor relations (the labour law), and the procedures and penalties for violators," said Khalil Al Khoori, MoHRE's undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs, "This serves to encourage target groups to comply with laws in order to guarantee the rights of both parties in the employment relationship."

The campaign would include a "diverse range of media activities" delivered to target audiences in four languages: Arabic, English, Urdu, and Swahili.

The ICP's director-general, Major-General Suhail Al Khaili, stated that the initiative will emphasize the legal penalties taken against offenders.

Visa holders can use the ICP website or app to verify the status of their paperwork and whether they have been fined, They can pay the fines in person at ICP service centers and typing centers, or online.

Violations of the immigration and employment systems, according to Major-General Al Khaili, are "serious transgressions."

"The UAE implements an advanced, flexible, proactive, and pioneering residency and labour system, and this campaign aims to raise awareness among employers, workers, investors in free zones, and violators of entry and residency conditions in the UAE, along with the general public," he went on to say.

New labor legislation

According to Mohsen Al Nassi, MoHRE's assistant undersecretary for Inspection Affairs, the campaign will promote knowledge about the terms of the new labor legislation, which entered into effect last year.
