UAE: Issuance of a new 90 day visa with a one-term extension

The UAE digital government has announced the issuance of a new 90-day visa, valid for one period extension.

In the details, the Emirates Digital Government reported that foreign patients can enter the UAE for treatment under the sponsorship of medical institutions and hospitals, and the entry permit can be extended to accompany the patient once, provided that a duly certified medical report is provided, stating that the patient needs to continue receiving treatment.

With regard to the patient's entry permit, the government stated, through its electronic portal, that foreign patients can enter the country for treatment under the sponsorship of medical institutions and government and private hospitals, and the sponsor (medical institution) undertakes the procedures for issuing the entry permit for treatment, at the patient's request.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai grants an entry permit for treatment on the sponsorship of medical facilities (governmental and private) to a foreigner wishing to enter the country for treatment. The patient’s entry permits for the purpose of treatment include two types, the first is a treatment entry permit for one trip, and its holder has the right to enter within 60 days from the date of its issuance, and to stay for a period of 90 days from the date of entry, and it can be extended, and it is valid for one trip, and the second is an entry permit for treatment for several trips, and the holder is entitled to enter Within 60 days from the date of its issuance, and a stay of 90 days from the date of entry, and the possibility of leaving and entering without specifying the period, and it may be extended for one time.

Those wishing to obtain an entry permit for treatment are required to provide four documents: a copy of the patient's passport, a letter from a licensed hospital stating the reasons for the visit, the patient's health insurance, and the financial guarantee. The government stated that to issue the visa, the sponsor must be one of the licensed hospitals in the country, and the entry permit can be extended to accompany the patient once, provided that a duly certified medical report is provided, stating that the patient needs to continue treatment. The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security provides patient entry permits services through the eChannels portal to customers in the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.
