Emirates Red Crescent Launches Housing Project in Syria

The initiative, comprising 47 housing units, was established by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) to aid Syrian families affected by a devastating earthquake in February.

Announced in April as a component of a Dh65 million initiative, this housing project stands as a testament to the UAE's commitment to addressing critical needs in times of crisis. The inauguration was thoughtfully scheduled to coincide with World Humanitarian Day on August 19.

The Al Naqa'a housing project, according to Hamoud Al Junaibi, acting secretary general of the ERC, "reflects the UAE's commitment to supporting humanitarian and relief efforts in Syria." The program highlights the country's continued commitment to reducing the effects of natural catastrophes and crises on people's lives in friendly and sisterly nations.

Each unit in the housing project is thoughtfully designed, comprising two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom, accommodating up to six individuals. This high-quality and fully-equipped housing endeavor, named Al Naqa’a, is set to foster stability for families who endured the loss of their homes due to the earthquake. Amer Hilal, Governor of Latakia, the location of the units, lauded the project for its potential to provide much-needed stability for affected families.
