Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has introduced a convenient way for UAE residents to escape the winter chill.
PIA Launches Direct Dubai-Skardu Flights
The airline's new direct flights from Dubai to Skardu promise a swift and comfortable journey, with a flight time of just three and a-half hours. Departing from Dubai International Airport Terminal 1 on Saturdays and returning on Tuesdays, this route offers the ideal opportunity for a quick weekend escape to the snow-capped mountains of Skardu.
Passengers witnessed a breathtaking sight as the plane flew over Islamabad. The mountain ranges of the Hindu Kush, Karakoram, and Himalayas came into full view.
Skardu: A Calm Haven Surrounded by the Beauty of Nature
Travelers arrived in Skardu to refreshing temperatures in the mid-20s and a calm mood. Skardu, which is 8,200 feet above sea level at a height of 2,500 meters, stands in stark contrast to the hectic city life of Dubai. Natural landmarks, including lakes, waterfalls, and the majestic Kharpocho Fort, add to the town's peacefulness. Deosai National Park, Upper Kachura Lake, and the lovely Manthokha Waterfalls are a few noteworthy highlights. There are numerous places to stay, including the famed Shangri-La Resort, which provides a wonderful stay.
Gateway to Winter Wonders
Skardu's snow-covered landscapes and chilly temperatures, which can drop to around -20°C during the winter, make it an enticing destination for those seeking cooler climes. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan's ambassador to the UAE, anticipates that this flight will mark the start of a tourism revolution for Pakistan. With its breathtaking natural beauty, warm hospitality, and delectable cuisine, Pakistan holds immense potential as a sought-after travel destination.
Tirmizi envisions a future where multiple flights connect the UAE to Skardu, as well as other scenic spots like Gilgit and Chitral. To accommodate larger aircraft, he suggests upgrading runways, thus enhancing Pakistan's tourism infrastructure. As this flight inaugurates a new chapter in travel between Dubai and Skardu, it sets the stage for a brighter future for Pakistan's tourism industry.
