The emirates issues a decision regarding free smart parking permits

ahmed atef - | Arab News

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai is planning to provide a free smart parking permit service for senior persons and individuals who are determined.

Starting on August 20, the free smart parking permit service will allow the registration of up to five automobiles with a single permit, primarily aimed at seniors and persons of determination.

The procedure will be completed online using the RTA website and mobile app.

The free parking permits supplied to Senior Emiratis and People of Determination encompass a variety of services, such as issuing and renewing licences for Senior Emiratis that allow them to park for free in public places. It also comprises permanent and temporary permits, a tourist permit, a permission for rehabilitation, and a permit for particular medical conditions for persons of determination, allowing them to park for free in public places as well as parking slots for people of determination.

Applicants will receive text message notifications reminding them to update their permits. These communications will contain an electronic link emailed to their registered phone numbers, allowing them to activate the permit electronically.

These efforts are in line with Dubai's "smart city" strategy, which emphasises diversity. This shift to user-centered services represents a significant step towards sustainability and increased service quality, as well as a reduction in the requirement for in-person visits to service centres.
