Adnoc wins $3.6B gas processing infrastructure contract
Adnoc Gas plc, a prominent consolidated gas processing company, declared the granting of a contract for $3.6 billion (Dh13.1 billion) to Tecnicas Reunidas S.A. and National Petroleum Construction Company Co PJSC. This project will enable Adnoc Gas to expand its gas processing facilities within the UAE.
Enhanced Gas Processing Facilities
In accordance with the agreement, innovative gas processing facilities will be built, maximizing the supply of gas to the Ruwais Industrial Complex.
Maximising Ethane Recovery and Monetisation (MERAM) Initiative
The two main goals of the strategic MERAM project are to be accomplished. First, by developing cutting-edge gas processing units, it aims to increase ethane extraction from Adnoc Gas's current onshore facilities in the Habshan complex by 35–40%. By sending current feedstock to Ruwais via a special 120-kilometer natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline, it also seeks to add value to it.
Contributing to Local Economy
Significantly, over 70% of the contract's value will circulate within the UAE's economy, aligning with Adnoc's In-Country Value (ICV) initiative. This commitment bolsters local economic growth and diversification.
Strategic Focus on Sustainable Energy
The CEO of Adnoc Gas, Ahmed Mohamed Alebri, highlighted the importance of the project by saying, "This capital project reflects Adnoc Gas's ongoing investment in its gas processing infrastructure, showcasing our dedication to responsibly meeting our customers' present and future natural gas and feedstock energy demands."
Supporting Industrial Development
The country's developing industrial sector will have access to more energy supplies thanks to the construction of the gas processing infrastructure. The agreement's significant ICV will also encourage economic growth and diversification.
Transitioning to Lower Carbon Emissions
Natural gas is a pivotal transitional fuel, characterized by lower carbon emissions when compared to other fossil fuels. Furthermore, it serves as a vital raw material within industrial value chains.
Leveraging Integrated Gas Masterplan
Adnoc Gas takes use of chances brought about by Adnoc's thorough integrated gas masterplan, which unites every part of the UAE's gas value chain. This tactical approach guarantees a natural gas supply that is economically viable and sustainable to meet both local and global demand. To increase gas recovery from current fields and utilize unexplored resources, the masterplan calls for cutting-edge approaches and technology.
